How Growth Navigator works

Help for /help/module-m01

Getting started

  • What Growth Navigator isNavigate from start-up to scale-up and beyond: apply, get assessed, then use twelve modules to see where your company stands for its growth stage.
  • Using this help centreContext-sensitive help on every page, plus a navigable and searchable centre.
  • Program guidelinesEach program's guidelines are rendered from the same configuration the assessment uses.
  • Signing inApplicants use the applicant sign-in; Powering Australia staff use the staff sign-in.

Your application

  • Registering your companyEnter your ABN, confirm the details the ABR returns, declare your authority, and you become the Company Administrator.
  • Choosing a programCompare open programs side by side; the quick check highlights the best fit without blocking either choice.
  • Eligibility stageAnswer every eligibility criterion for the program, declare your stage, and submit. Staff verify within five business days.
  • Merit stage and AI assessmentRespond to each weighted criterion with specific evidence; Claude drafts scores that staff review and the Delegate decides on.
  • Participation Agreement and activationCohort acceptance sends a DocuSign agreement; it becomes active only after the Powering Australia Administrator countersigns.

Modules and instruments

  • Modules pageSubscribe within your program ceiling, assign who is responsible, start or resume each instrument, and run the engine.
  • The twelve modulesWhat each module captures, the frameworks behind it, who completes it and how often.
  • Completing an instrumentPages of items with Previous, Next and Save and exit; structured grids; agent pre-fill you confirm, correct or reject.
  • M01 Phase and Growth ReadinessPlaces your company on the growth curve and measures the growing pains that signal a transition is due. Every other module is scored against the stage you declare here.
  • M02 GovernanceLooks at how decisions are made and overseen: board, delegations, shareholder agreements, risk and audit oversight, and how dependent the company is on its founder.
  • M03 StrategyCaptures your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats with evidence, and tests whether your strategy has a diagnosis, a guiding policy and coherent action.
  • M04 Market and CompetitionRates the forces acting on your market and scores you against up to six named competitors on dimensions you choose.
  • M05 Commercial EngineMaps the nine blocks of your business model and the numbers behind them: funnel conversion, acquisition cost, lifetime value and margin per unit.
  • M06 Financial HealthReads two years of financial statements into a standard chart of accounts, which you confirm line by line, then computes runway, margins and resilience ratios.
  • M07 RiskBuilds a register of up to twenty risks with owners, ratings and treatments. Cyber, IP and foreign-interference entries are mandatory.
  • M08 Operations and ScalabilityRates manufacturing readiness, identifies your binding constraint and compares capacity with demand, suppliers and quality systems.
  • M09 Systems and DigitalMeasures the coverage and maturity of your core business systems, how well they integrate, and your cyber maturity against the Essential Eight.
  • M10 Team CompositionEach person completes their own profile under their own consent: qualifications, team roles and personality. The company sees coverage and gaps, never other people’s raw answers without consent.
  • M11 Culture and LeadershipEach respondent describes the culture now and the culture they prefer. Results are aggregated; nobody sees an individual answer.
  • M12 Commercialisation and Capital ReadinessPlaces your product on the commercial, technology and investment readiness ladders and records your IP position and capital plan.

Plans and feedback

  • PlansGenerated documents for one subject area, built from your confirmed data, scores and evidence, reviewed by your Commercialisation Manager.
  • Feedback: recommendations and actionsReleased recommendations grouped by capability, with your status, owner, due date and notes, plus the actions from your Plans.

Team, consent and settings

  • Team: people, roles and invitationsInvite people by email, set their role and Manager, see instrument completion and consent, and open consenting people's reports.
  • Consent and your individual resultsSharing individual instrument results with your employer is a separate, specific, versioned consent you can withdraw at any time.
  • SettingsCompany profile, widget visibility per role, dashboard layout, your consents and the research opt-out.

Staff portal

Concepts

  • Application statesEvery state an application can be in, who moves it, and where it can go next.
  • The metro mapEight stations from Register to Active; the current one pulses, staff-controlled ones show what Powering Australia is doing.
  • Fit score, bands, drag and thrustHow a capability score is computed and what the sign means.
  • Module agents and evidenceEach module has an agent that gathers public evidence through an allow-listed proxy; nothing affects a score unless you confirm it.
